BJUT at CIFTIS

From September 2 to September 7, the 2021 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) themed “Towards Digital Future and Service Driven Development” was held in Beijing.

On September 2, Xie Hui, Secretary of BJUT’s CPC Committee was interviewed by Beijing Radio & Television Station (BRTV) at the Global Trade in Services Summit of the CIFTIS. He said that talents were essential to the socioeconomic development of Bejing and China while education was fundamental to talent cultivation. He hoped the CIFTIS could raise the awareness of talent cultivation across the society.

On September 3, Andrew J Deeks, President of the University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland, addressed at the International Forum on Trade in Educational Services. He briefed on the development of Beijing-Dublin International College (BDIC), a high-level institution of higher learning jointly established by UCD and BJUT.

After the forum, the BJUT delegation led by Vice President Wu Bin visited the booth of BDIC at the Education Services Exhibition. As a model of China-Foreign cooperative education, BDIC has achieved remarkable results in recent years. As of August 2021, more than 1,240 students had graduated from BDIC. Nearly 80% of the undergraduate students pursued graduate studies at home and abroad. More than 60% of the students were enrolled in the top 100 universities in the QS World University Rankings, and nearly 50% joined the top 50 universities in the QS World University Rankings. The employment rate of the graduates remained over 97%, and the comprehensive capability of BDIC students has been widely recognized.

On September 4, BJUT officially released the White Paper of the Sino-Polish University Consortium under the Belt and Road Initiative 2017-2020 (Chinese-English Bilingual Edition) at the Release Event of Beijing International Education Services (Higher Education).

Besides, a number of scientific research achievements and key technology projects from the Faculty of Architecture, Civil and Transportation Engineering of BJUT were showcased at the Exhibition of Engineering Consulting and Construction Services. This was a full display of BJUT’s research strength and technological achievements in intelligent construction, including the full-life intelligent service platform for digital twin buildings, key technologies for modern swivel bridges, the intelligent detection of subway tunnels, TBM-aided intelligent construction, the technology of road engineering warning, prevention and control, energy saving and emission reduction, carbon neutrality, and the renewal of old districts. Moreover, 44 BJUTers provided five-day volunteer service in the CIFTIS at the National Convention Center and the Water Cube.
